If your life is the life being assured, you won’t be the one making the claim! The beneficiary you named in the policy will make the claim. It is important that your beneficiary knows where you keep all your documentation.

How to Claim . . . The beneficiary must go to the offices of the life assurance company with the following documents:

  • The DEATH CERTIFICATE of the person whose life was assured (the doctor at the clinic or hospital or the doctor who certified the cause of death will issue the death certificate).
  • The LIFE ASSURANCE POLICY which names the beneficiary.
  • Their own IDENTITY DOCUMENT.
The life assurance company will assess the claim and if everything is in order, then payout will be made within a few working days (this time period refers to most Life Assurance companies).
