You are probably starting to notice the opposite sex in a different way. You begin to have feelings for someone you never really noticed before. It is often called a crush. This is a very exciting time in your life. You are beginning to explore the world of dating and relating.
Deciding whether to have a boyfriend or girlfriend is a big decision. There's no hurry. Remember that it is always better to wait until you are more mature to start dating.
If you choose to be single for a while longer it may give you more time to do stuff that you want to do such as:
1
Spend time with friends.
2
Concentrate on your schoolwork.
3
Taking part in extra-murals such as sport, dancing or learning to play a musical instrument.
Being single can mean you get to find out more about yourself. Don’t get into a relationship if:
You feel you are not ready yet.
You have plenty of time to date in the future. Don’t rush into it – just enjoy your youth!
You have chosen not to date until a certain age.
Your parents also usually have a say as to when you are allowed to start dating. Listen to them. Believe it or not, they were also once you age. They really do know what is the best for you.
You are enjoying your freedom.
Use this time to really explore all your talents and hobbies. You can also have lots of fun spending time with your friends.
You haven’t met someone you want to date yet.
Wait until you really like someone before you decide to get into a relationship with that person.
Only you can decide if you want a relationship or not. It is alright to take time to decide if a relationship is right for you.
